Sohpie Milman . . .WOW

Listen up folks, because this girl's got a voice that will knock you back into your lounge chair and order another round. Sophie Milman is Canada's new girl on the block of jazz, and she's definately making an impression. . .

I admit that I'm a little late in writing this article, but I thought 'better late than never', right? Barely a year in the making, Sophie's self-titled debut is not only on the rise, but shooting straight out of orbit, as she is now ranked number one on USA's iTunes for jazz, and has already made her mark on Canadian soil, right up there with none other than Crooner-revivalist Michael Buble and Diana Krall in the charts.

Sophie's sound is reminiscent of sitting in a smoky night club from the 1950s. Her voice is powerful and has so many different moods throughout the CD. Taking cues from Cole Porter, Ella Fitzgerald, and many other legends of jazz, this 23 year old knockout has what it takes to be the queen of jazz.

Light and easy, or heavy and harsh . . .either way, Sophie will make you stare in aw as she belts out her next notes, or eases them out like smooth cream pouring over a cool drink.

Uncanny and far too rare, this girl makes my top three jazz artists and I'm actually in the works of booking her for a show in my home town . . .maybe I'll see you there?
